Dave Frohnmayer Plaque Placement

  • June 13, 2019

  • East end of the State Capitol grounds

On Thursday June 13, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at the east end of the State Capitol grounds a plaque will be dedicated honoring Dave Frohnmayer.   All are welcome.

Dave passed away March 10, 2015.   He was a uniquely talented first citizen of Oregon.   He worked first in a law firm, then in the federal government and then was an Oregon legislator.  He served three terms as Attorney General of the State of Oregon, was a law professor, Dean of the University of Oregon School of Law and then President of the University of Oregon.  Prior to his death, he was in private practice and of counsel with the law firm of Harrang Long Gary Rudnick, P.C.

He was more than a successful legislator, litigator, educator and administrator; he and his wife Lynn and their family fought a battle for three decades against the rare recessive genetic disease Fanconi anemia (FA); Lynn remains a mainstay of the effort.  This disease is horrific and has taken the lives of all three Frohnmayer daughters.  Dave and Lynn established the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund which has raised millions of dollars for medical grants and made significant strides not only in understanding FA but in making important contributions to breast cancer research.  The Fund has established the David B. Frohnmayer Scientific Research Fund in Dave’s honor.
