Assistant Attorney General (Business Transactions Section Lawyer)

Duties & Responsibilities

The Department of Justice is seeking attorney applicants for a position in the Business Transactions Section of the General Counsel Division.  Assistant Attorneys General in the Business Transactions Section provide legal services regarding complex transactions including information technology, intellectual property, design and construction, real estate and general commercial matters.  This is a Salem-based position represented by the Oregon Association of Justice Attorneys.
The Section's Design and Construction practice group provides legal services to state agencies including architectural and engineering design services contracts, related services contracts (project management, owner's representative, commissioning and other consultant services contracts related to building, road and bridge construction), conventional low-bid construction contracts and alternative construction contracts.
The Section's Information Technology practice group provides legal services to state agencies on information technology transactions and intellectual property matters including systems acquisition, development and implementation projects, telecommunications, hardware and software acquisitions, IP licensing including trademarks, SAAS, cloud computing and information security.

This position's focus will either be in the Section's Design and Construction or Information Technology/Intellectual Property practice groups, but from time-to-time and depending on experience, interest or need, the attorney will be responsible for other types of complex business transactions.

This position will be filled at either the Assistant Attorney General or Senior Assistant Attorney General level, based primarily on years of legal practice experience.  Questions regarding this position may be directed to Mark Williams, Attorney-in-Charge, Business Transactions Section, or to Steven Wolf, Chief Counsel, General Counsel Division, at 503-947-4540.
