Assistant Attorney General (Election Law Violation Prosecutor) 

The Criminal Justice Division is looking for experienced prosecutors who are enthusiastic about working with federal, state and local law enforcement across the state to actively investigate and prosecute a wide variety of criminal activity.  Among other duties, this position will be responsible for prosecuting election law violation (ELV) cases, and will include providing assistance and guidance for ELV case investigations.  This position will work closely with the Elections Division of the Secretary of State's Office.

The selected candidate will also be expected to provide advice and support for District Attorneys and Deputy District Attorneys across the state, and to present at trainings. Additionally, the selected candidate will be expected to prosecute conflict cases and specialty cases at the request of District Attorneys.  Experience prosecuting significant cases in a District Attorney's office (or equivalent experience) is preferred.

Assistant Attorney General (Domestic Violence Resource Prosecutor)

The attorney selected for this position will: work cooperatively with statewide partners (including  the Crime Victims and Survivors Services Division (CVSSD) and the Attorney General's Sexual Assault Task Force) to develop, coordinate, and provide training programs for prosecutors, law-enforcement officers, service providers and others on issues of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking; will provide advice and assistance to prosecutors and, at times, handle the prosecution of family violence cases, including grand jury and trial proceedings; will be responsible for developing training materials, best-practice policies, and other publications, and; will serve on councils, committees, and other groups as requested to assist in the development of a statewide approach to those issues.  Please refer to the announcement (linked below) for additional information.

The Salem Municipal Court is recruiting to add criminal defense attorneys to our current roster and to establish a list of future appointments as necessary.  Court-appointed attorneys are appointed by the Judge to represent the indigent accused cited in our court. 

Our current case mix includes traffic crimes and non-traffic “quality of life” offenses such as Trespass, Disorderly Conduct, Possession of Alcohol in Prohibited Places, etc.

Many of the individuals appearing in our court are struggling with homelessness, substance abuse, mental health issues, co-occurring disorders, and/or issues related to military service. Experience relevant to this population is desirable. Bilingual attorneys are encouraged to apply.
