This family friendly event benefiting Mid-Valley CourtCare will be centered in the alleyway between 1859 Cider Company and Salem Summit Co and progress to the alleyway behind Taproot Lounge & Cafe. Attendees can sample cider, beer, wine, mocktails, and small bites.The event will feature exciting raffle prizes and auction items. We are also planning arts and crafts venues for the kids. Salem Day Out for CourtCare has something for everyone and is a great way to enjoy our Salem community and support a great cause.

The next First Tuesday will be at Taproot on June 5, 2018, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Taproots is located at, located at 356 State Street. The May event is sponsored by Feibleman Case Wilson. This event offers our members the opportunity to socialize and network while enjoying appetizers sponsored by a local law firm, and beverages.

The Mary Leonard Chapter (MLC) of OWLS and the State of Oregon Law Library (SOLL) are proud to welcome Ron Silver, retired Assistant U.S. Attorney and master storyteller, to give a presentation entitled "Stories and Lessons from the Civil Rights Movement," including the the story of the Scottsboro Boys and associated court cases, Powell v. Alabama and Norris v. Alabama.
Ron Silver retired after 33 years with the U.S. Attorneys Office. During his career, he handled many civil rights cases. He has taught the history of the Civil Rights Movement in Oregon and Washington schools and in many federal agencies. Mr. Silver led student groups to Mississippi and Alabama to study the movement firsthand. He is a member of the Northwest Community Gospel Choir and the Northwest Freedom Singers.
1.0 Access to Justice CLE credit will be sought. OWLS members $15, nonmembers $20, judicial law clerks and new admittees $10. Free to students and those not seeking CLE credit.

OMLA is excited to present Oregon Supreme Court Justice Adrienne Nelson. Justice Nelson will discuss diversity and inclusion in the Oregon legal community and share her story.
